Why do we carry out yoga sessions at Berrington Lodge Nursery?
Yoga enhances physical flexibility; promotes strength because children learn to use their muscles in new ways. It refines balance and coordination, balancing poses promote mental and physical poise, as mental clarity and stability increase from the effort of trying the poses.
We have so much fun with the children while doing yoga sessions, we find that they have a positive impact on behaviour and helps children to calm and regulate themselves.
We would like to thank the dads who attended the Father’s Day event, it was so lovely to see you all. Everyone had such a wonderful afternoon and we know how much it means to the children having you come and play in their nursery environment. Thank you all so much and we look forward to seeing you all at many other events we hold at Berrington Lodge Nursery.
“Music is a world within itself. It's a language we all understand.” - Stevie Wonder.
Last week we celebrated World Music Day by making our own musical instruments. The children used rice, stones, cereal and sand to fill tubs and bottles to make their own individuals sounds/music instruments. The children also sang lots of nursery rhymes, they played different types musical instruments, and listened to a variety of music from around the world.
It’s time for us at BLN to say goodbye to our Pre-school leavers, on Thursday 6th July we will celebrated how far all the children have come with 2 graduation ceremonies & a party-one that was well and truly deserved!!
Last week the nursery took part in Pirate week, we had lots of discussion around all things pirates. The children got to make their own treasure and treasure boxes, they made maps using tea bags, took part in treasure hunts in the garden and the children got to make up a pirate song which they had so much fun doing. At circle time practitioners read lots of pirate books and spoke to the children about how pirates may speak, the typical words a pirate may use and their actions. The children also got to paint our nursery garden pirate ship which they loved and have story time in the ship as well as role play activities.
We had the pleasure of Diddi Dance coming into the nursery so the children of BLN could take part in dance lessons.
All classroom's got to take part and we all had so much fun.
Diddi dance engaged and inspired the children's own creativity by using action songs, dance games, fun exercises hoops and dance ribbons to a wide range of music.
Pre-school turned the classroom into a Spa to take part in Random Acts of Kindness day! The children in Pre-school were being kind to themselves and others in the room. Children were asked to come in comfy clothes and pyjamas to relax their day away. Children took part in relaxing food bath with rose petals bubble baths and mindful yoga classes. They also made perfume with real flowers and flower cards for their special friends.
It was a lovely relaxing day for all.
On Friday 30th September we took part in the Macmillan’s Coffee Morning.
All the money raised goes towards supporting Cancer research.
Marc was a very busy month at nursery as the children all got to celebrating St David's Day, Pancake day and World Book Day. We had lots of fun making daffodils, decorating and eating pancakes as well as reading lots of books and dressing up as different characters.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all our wonderful parents/carers for attending our Christmas carol service/ party. The children sang beautifully and really enjoyed the party as well as meeting Santa. Here are some pictures and videos of the carol service and party, enjoy!
Pre-school Graduation- Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st July 2021 at 10.30 am
The summer term is coming to an end, which means a large amount of our pre-school children will be graduating with us and starting their next big chapter of Reception in September.
So it’s time for us at BLN to say goodbye to all our graduates, each day has been filled with so much fun. We are all so proud of how the children have grown and progressed. So on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st July we will celebrate all of the children and how far they have come with a graduation ceremony and a party, one that is well and truly deserved!! If you wish to send your child into nursery in party clothing then please do so.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we will not be allowing parents to attend the graduation ceremony but we will be sending pictures of the graduate’s home.
This year sports day will take place throughout the week, starting on Monday 28th June 2021.
Each room has prepared a variety of physical activities for the children to take part in. Could we ask that parents send their child/children into nursery in some form of sports wear and footwear suitable for running (letter to follow with more information).
Unfortunately with the restrictions being extended parent will not be able to attend, however pictures will be posted on Facebook so please keep a look out.
We have been busy transforming our old toddler room into a sensory room for children to access. Children have thoroughly enjoyed using this new and exciting space.
Time in a sensory room helps children improve their visual, auditory and tactile processing, as well as fine and gross motor skills. By providing a sense of calm and comfort, sensory rooms help children learn to self-regulate their behaviours, which ultimately improves focus.
Children have been having lots of fun in our new transformed garden! It has certainly had the impact we were hoping for! Outdoor play supports children's problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.
We are delighted that the nursery will be open again from Monday June 1st

Dear Parents/Carers
Following the government announcement we will be closing Berrington Lodge Nursery to everyone except children’s parents who are on the key worker list. Here is the link for the list: https://www.gov.uk/…/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-loca…
We are happy and proud that our nursery will continue to help and support the families on the list so that they are able to provide vital service and care to our country at this critical time. We are saddened that we are unable to provide this service to all of our families, but guidance has been set out for us by the government.
If you are a parent that falls into the key worker list then please call the nursery on 01902 912424 and confirm your child/children’s attendance for next week. This is of upmost importance and will allow us to plan in advance.
If you are not on the list above then please do not send your child/children into nursery until till further notice.
Your nursery fees will be suspended from Monday 23rd March until till further notice. Can you please ensure all fees are up-to-date.
We would like to thank all of our parents/carers for being so supportive and understanding. A massive thank you to the staff at BLN who are allowing the nursery to remain open for the children’s parents who are on the key worker list and vulnerable children.
We will keep you updated following government guidelines.

We are trying to encourage and support our children to read more as reading helps children to get to know sounds, words, language, and develop early literacy skills. Children learn to value books and stories .By reading it sparks children imagination and stimulate curiosity. As well as helping children brain development, social skills and communication skills develop.

The children are looking forward to going on their first trip to see santa at Codsall Garden Centre, with the elderly from Abbeyfield Parkdale Care Home, our lovely neighbours, who we work very closely with.
Our children here at Berrington Lodge Nursery get to interact with different types of elderly people from Abbeyfield Care home. The children are able to develop respect and empathy for the elderly, which enhances their social and personals development as well as building confidence around new people. Abbeyfield residence and Berrington Lodge Nursery, children have the opportunity for both to learn new skills from each other as well as filling a void for either the elderly or child.
